Looking for some Quality High Res pics? Well I have a beginners guide to using the SDC channel on Dalnet IRC for you. Like any beginners guide it will probably please no one. Annoying people who know a little and boring people who know lots. That said I will try anyway. If you have suggestions for how to make this page better or you would like me to link to your page Email me!
Ok where to start.
On SDC you will find collections of images. Let's be honest, most of these images are of chicks, and most of them partially clothed (ok Nude). Some of the collections are actually of things like cars, scenery and the like, but heh most of them are of chicks.

Collections

People put together a collection of scans together and these are a set. The set is described by a CSV. The CSV is the starting point for getting the pics!

What is a CSV

A CSV is a comma separated variable file. This is a generic file type but it is used in SDC to define the name of files, the size of files and the CRC of the files. At the end of the day if you compare your files against the CSV and they match you know you have the completed set, and the files have not been munched on there way to you. So the CSV is the starting point cause it tells you the name of the files you want to get from the person offering them ...

Auto Trigger and Auto Leech

There are two automated programs called Auto Leech and Auto Trigger. Auto Leech is the Client program you use to get the files and Auto Trigger is the Server side of the program that are used to offer up the files. You will need Auto Leech cause it is very time consuming and inefficient to get the files manually. Here is the home of AutoLeech and AutoTriggger.
Both of these programs are scripts that you load into MIRC. So you have to have MIRC in and running before you can use AutoTrigger and AutoLeech. Follow the instructions in these programs. Both of these are a little goofy to setup but work very well once setup.

So what does an offer look like?

Here is a sample offer that I clipped out:
* three_7 offers btr sdc 120 (120/120).
Type /ctcp three_7 !btr_sdc_120 for the scans, and
/ctcp three_7 !btr_sdc_120.CSV for the csv.
So this is being offered by a guy by the name of three_7 (me) and he is offering a scan collection called btr_sdc_120. Let's break down the request:
/ctcp three_7 !btr_sdc_120
/ctcp is a command used by MIRC to issue a request. three_7 is the nick-name of the person offering the scans. The "trigger" is !btr_sdc_120. This is a key that is used by the server. Lastly the filename you want. By the way can tell that there are 120 scans in the collection according to the CSV and the person offering the scan has 120 of them.

So let's start!

First get the csv so based on the example you would type this command in the #SDC channel.
/ctcp three_7 !btr_sdc_120.CSV for the csv
Assuming the server is not busy the csv will be sent to you. You will need to set MIRC to Auto-get so that AutoTrigger can work automatically.

Back to SDC stuff

Ok so you got the CSV (you requested it above) what's next? By the way if the server was busy you may need to re-issue the request for the CSV file.

One Collection one directory

I recommend that you keep each collection in a separate directory. This is just an anal organizational recommendation, but once you have many collections it insures you do not overwrite files and it just makes sense. So the next step is to move the CSV into the new directory. This will also allow you to resume getting a collection if it does not finish. Now start up auto leech by selecting:

Now click on add. Now if the ctcp request is in the clipboard auto leech will probably pick up the nick and the trigger on it's own. If not just type it in manually. Then select the new directory you created for the collection. Then select the CSV. Lastly click on Start leech. You can then close the window if you have no more triggers from the same leech.

Multiple triggers from the same nick

Most servers only allow one file at a time to be leeched. So if the nick is offering more than one trigger you want you can continue queueing more requests by pressing Add and following the above procedure. As soon as one trigger is complete it will go onto the next ... Works great!

Ok I think I have the whole collection

Well time to verify the files against the CSV. There is a great program called PicCheck that will compare your collection against the CSV and tell you if you have the whole collection!

Multiple Triggers

Some nicks offer so many triggers that they can not directly show them all at once. You gotta love people like this. You can tell these people because they will have an offer like:
zENOn-away offers his Website Triggers (6kb),
Type /ctcp zENOn-away !Triggers to receive!
So if you issue the ctcp command the server will send you a file called nick.txt. So in this case it would be zenon-sway.txt. If you open this file it will have a whole list of triggers that you can request!

FTP sites

Some people even offer an FTP site full of SDC collections. Definitely want to appreciate these folks. These FTP sites can be quite busy so it may take you a while to get into the site. They generally have limits on how many users can log on at once. Here is a sample offer:
* zENOn-away offers an FTP for Website updates,
IP: zenon.yi.org Port: 21 L/P: WSC (Not 24/h)
So what this means is the FTP site is zenon.yi.org the port number is 21 and the userid and password (l/p) is WSC. It may be case sensitive. More on FTP sites when I have more time ...

Where can I get more CSVs?

Sometimes when you are on an FTP site you run into a collection without a CSV. Without the CSV you have no clue if you have the whole set, no clue if the files have been corrupt etc. So CSVs are Key! So here are some sites with CSVs:
Slik's
Hitman's
